Abstract

A study on the incidence of mastitis in goats on examination of 301 goat milk samples revealed 44.19 percent clinical mastitis and 20.93 percent subclinical mastitis. Tellicherry breed recorded a marginally higher incidence of mastitis from Desi breed of goats or Jamnapari breed of goats. Goats in Ist lactation are more prone to mastitis. During the first month of each lactation, the incidence of mastitis was found to be high.
