Abstract

A study on the incidence of mastitis in goats on examination of 301 goat milk samples revealed 44.19 percent clinical mastitis and 20.93 percent subclinical mastitis. Tellicherry breed recorded a marginally higher incidence of mastitis from Desi breed of goats or Jamnapari breed of goats. Goats in I^st lactation are more prone to mastitis. During the first month of each lactation, the incidence of mastitis was found to be high.
