Abstract

The serum protein profile of baby Indian elephants, tuskers and adult female elephants was studied. Age or sex did not show any influence on the albumin, globulin and albumin: globulin ratio in the three groups. In general, the albumin level was low and globulin level high in elephant serum. A/G ratio was below one. The protein fractionation revealed a qualitative prominence of beta globulin.
