JVAS is committed to maintaining an accurate and reliable scholarly record.
The journal may publish corrections, corrigenda, errata, expressions of concern or retractions when necessary.
Corrections
A correction may be issued when an error in a published article does not invalidate the principal findings but requires correction to prevent misunderstanding.
Examples include:
· errors in author information;
· typographical or production errors;
· incorrect figures or tables;
· minor errors in data presentation;
· errors in references; or
· other errors that do not materially affect the scientific conclusions.
Retraction
An article may be retracted when there is reliable evidence of serious problems affecting its validity or integrity, including:
· fabricated or falsified data;
· major plagiarism;
· duplicate publication;
· serious ethical violations;
· invalid or unreliable findings;
· serious authorship or legal issues; or
· other circumstances that substantially compromise the integrity of the published work.
Retraction decisions shall be made by the Editor/Editorial Board following appropriate examination of the matter.
A retracted article shall remain identifiable in the journal archive, with a clear retraction notice linked to the original article, rather than being silently removed from the scholarly record.
Author-initiated correction
Authors have an obligation to inform the Editor promptly if they discover a significant error in their published article.
